She has a firm teaching style, clearly setting out her expectations in a fun and friendly way. She has been praised for her thorough marking style using 'Next Steps' to engage and further challenge children. Nicola prides herself on being a friendly, positive role model who enjoys working both as part of a team or is equally able to work on her own initiative. Nicola she is also a professional musician, having had a simultaneous career as an Opera singer and teacher following a conservatoire postgraduate education at The Royal College of Music. She is always looking for new ways to get music into the classroom as a way to aid learning and was previously involved in rewriting the music curriculum for a primary school which she then delivered during PPA sessions. Nicola always treats children as individuals and quickly learns to respond to the immediate needs of the children within the class setting. Nicola has a 'can do' attitude to life and regularly has positive feedback from schools she teaches in and attracts repeat bookings. She isn't afraid of challenging students or situations provided everyone is working to the same goal of ensuring that every child matters. Until recently Nicola was a Governor at her children's primary school, having served for nearly 7 years. She recently gained a Level 2 Certificate in Awareness of Mental Health Problems and also Level 2 Understanding Autism. She heartily believes that every day is a learning day!
