Role:
Assistant SENDCo Ipswich. We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Special Educational Needs and Disability Coordinator (SENDCo) to join our vibrant school community in Ipswich, starting in November.
This full-time role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of students with special educational needs.
As Assistant SENDCo Ipswich, you will work closely with the SENDCo and other staff to support the development and implementation of tailored education plans for students with a wide range of needs. Your responsibilities will include:
- coordinating support,
- working with teachers to adapt lessons,
- liaising with parents and external agencies,
- and ensuring that every student receives the appropriate resources to thrive.
You’ll play a key role in identifying students’ individual needs, monitoring their progress, and fostering an inclusive learning environment where all students feel supported and valued.

Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate provision for students with special educational needs, ensuring they receive the appropriate support and resources to reach their full potential. Work collaboratively with teaching staff, parents, and external agencies to develop and implement Education, Health, and Care Plans (EHCPs).
- Regularly assess and monitor the progress of students with special educational needs, adjusting interventions and support strategies as necessary.
- Lead EHCP plan reviews to ensure that students’ needs are met effectively and in line with statutory requirements.
- Provide guidance and support to teaching staff on inclusive teaching practices and differentiation to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
- Maintain accurate records of students’ progress, assessments, and interventions in line with statutory requirements and school policies.
- Stay updated on developments in SEND provision, attending relevant training and professional development opportunities to ensure best practices are implemented.
Qualifications and Experience Assistant SENDCo Ipswich:
- Vast experience working with students with special educational needs.
- Strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation relating to special educational needs and disabilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team, fostering a culture of inclusivity and high expectations for all students.
