A unique and rewarding opportunity has arisen at a highly-regarded independent preparatory school in Chelmsford. We are seeking an enthusiastic and dynamic Music Leader (2 days per week) and Class Teacher (1 day per week) to join a vibrant and nurturing school community from September 2025.

With an excellent reputation and a roll of approximately 220 pupils aged 2.5 to 11 years, this forward-thinking prep school offers a rich and well-rounded education. Pupils move on to a wide range of outstanding senior destinations including grammar, independent, and state secondary schools. Since 2018, the school has proudly operated as a Forest School, reflecting its deep commitment to outdoor learning and holistic child development.

🎶 The Role:

As Music Leader (2 days pw), you will:

Lead and develop the whole-school music curriculum.
Direct choirs, ensembles, and performances throughout the academic year.
Inspire a love of music from Early Years through to Year 6.
Coordinate and manage instrumental provision and peripatetic music teachers.

As Class Teacher (1 day pw), you will:

Take responsibility for a class one day per week (exact year group to be confirmed).
Deliver high-quality teaching in line with the school’s ethos of excellence and creativity.
Contribute to the academic and pastoral life of the school.

✅ The Ideal Candidate:

A qualified teacher (QTS or equivalent) with experience across the primary age range.
A passionate music educator with proven experience leading music in a school setting.
Creative, organised, and proactive with strong interpersonal skills.
A genuine love for working with children and contributing to a positive school environment.
