4myschools are looking for a Design & Technology Teacher to work at a school in Bishops Stortford, Hertfordshire.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and skilled Design & Technology Teacher to join a successful and well-resourced secondary school in Bishop’s Stortford from September 2025. This is a full-time role, initially offered on a 1-year fixed-term contract, with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate.
The successful applicant will be passionate about DT and confident teaching across a range of specialisms including Product Design, Resistant Materials, or Engineering. ECTs and experienced teachers are both encouraged to apply.
Key Responsibilities for a Design & Technology Teacher:
- Deliver engaging and high-quality Design & Technology lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 may be available depending on experience).
- Inspire students to develop practical skills, creative thinking, and problem-solving abilities.
- Plan, prepare, and assess students’ work in line with department and national standards.
- Contribute to curriculum planning, departmental initiatives, and school-wide activities.
- Maintain high standards of classroom management and health and safety in workshops.
- Participate in school life, including extra-curricular clubs and enrichment events.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or currently undertaking a recognised route to qualification.
- A degree or relevant qualification in Design & Technology or a related subject.
- Strong subject knowledge in areas such as Product Design, Engineering, or Resistant Materials.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and classroom management skills.
- Commitment to inclusive education and high expectations for all learners.
- Previous experience in a secondary school setting is desirable but not essential.
