D&T Teacher Jobs Ipswich. Are you a creative and skilled Design and Technology (D&T) Teacher with a passion for hands-on learning and innovative thinking? We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic D&T Teacher to join a dynamic secondary school in Ipswich, Suffolk. In this role, you’ll support students in designing and making products using a range of tools, materials, and techniques. Job Responsibilities for D&T Teacher Jobs Ipswich:
- Plan and deliver engaging D&T lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 (KS5 desirable)
- Teach across specialisms such as resistant materials, product design, graphics, electronics, or textiles (depending on experience)
- Promote creativity, critical thinking, and resilience in practical tasks
- Maintain a safe and organised workshop environment in line with health and safety standards
- Adapt teaching to support the diverse needs of students, including those with SEND
- Monitor and assess pupil progress, providing constructive feedback and recording achievements
- Contribute to curriculum planning and take part in departmental and school-wide activities
- Support and potentially lead extra-curricular clubs or practical enrichment opportunities
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a relevant degree in Design and Technology or a related subject
- Experience teaching D&T at secondary level (KS3–KS4; KS5 is a bonus)
- Good working knowledge of workshop tools, materials, and safety procedures
- Confident in using design software and CAD/CAM technologies (e.g., 2D Design, SolidWorks, Fusion 360)
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to engage learners of all abilities
- A team player with a passion for creative education and project-based learning
- Willingness to contribute to the wider school community and take part in ongoing professional development
