Are you an experienced English teacher ready to step into a leadership role? Or an existing Head of English looking for a fresh and rewarding challenge? We’re working in partnership with a welcoming, diverse secondary school in Chelmsford to recruit a Head of English to start in September 2025.

The role:
Lead and manage the English department, driving progress and high standards across KS3 & KS4
Inspire and support a team of passionate English teachers
Shape and deliver an engaging, broad, and balanced English curriculum
Contribute to whole-school development as part of the extended leadership team
You will need:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
Strong subject knowledge and proven success in raising attainment in English
Leadership experience or clear potential to take on a leadership role
A collaborative, values-led approach and commitment to the school’s faith-based ethos
