4myschools are looking for a History Teacher to work at a Secondary School in Great Yarmouth, Norfolk.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated History Teacher to join our thriving humanities department on a fixed-term basis to cover a period of maternity leave. This is a full-time position starting in September 2025, based at our welcoming and inclusive school in Great Yarmouth.
About the Role:
You will be responsible for delivering engaging and high-quality history lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, fostering a passion for the subject and inspiring students to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will be expected to plan, prepare, and deliver lessons in line with the national curriculum, assess and track student progress, and contribute to the wider life of the school.
Key Responsibilities for a History Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging and challenging lessons in line with the national curriculum for History at Key Stages 3 and 4
- Assess, record, and report on students’ progress and development
- Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages student participation and achievement
- Differentiate teaching strategies to meet the needs of all learners
- Contribute to departmental planning, curriculum development, and wider school initiatives
- Maintain high standards of behaviour, safeguarding, and pastoral care
- Attend staff meetings, parent evenings, and relevant training sessions as required
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in the UK
- Degree in History or a related subject
- Recent experience teaching History in a secondary school setting
- Strong classroom management skills and the ability to inspire and motivate students
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- A commitment to professional development and ongoing learning
- Willingness to contribute to the broader life of the school
