Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with diverse learning needs? SEN schools across Sheringham and the surrounding areas are looking for dedicated Learning Support Assistants to join their teams, working with pupils from Primary through to Secondary age. This role offers the chance to make a meaningful difference every day, supporting students with a wide range of needs including autism, communication difficulties, speech and language challenges, social‑emotional needs, and complex learning profiles. You’ll play a key part in helping pupils access learning, build confidence, and develop essential life skills in a nurturing, structured environment. If you’re compassionate, proactive, and excited by the opportunity to support children of all ages in specialist settings, we’d love to hear from you.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate is passionate about supporting children and young people with a wide range of SEND, including autism, communication needs, SEMH, and complex learning profiles. They are confident working across all age groups, from Early Years through to Secondary, and can follow structured routines, individual learning plans, and guidance from teachers, SENCOs, and therapists. A calm, patient, and adaptable approach is essential, along with the ability to build positive, trusting relationships with pupils who may require additional reassurance or consistency. Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant certificate, CACHE, Childcare, Health & Social Care, or equivalent experience are highly valued, and SALT‑related training such as ELKLAN, Makaton, PECS, or communication‑focused CPD is particularly desirable. The ideal candidate is a proactive team player with strong communication skills, a reliable and professional attitude, and the confidence to support personal care or sensory needs where required in specialist settings.
