Learning Support Assistant Jobs Colchester. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join one of our popular primary schools in Colchester, Essex. This part-time role involves providing one-to-one support for a non-verbal child in Reception (EYFS), helping them engage with learning through visual communication aids such as PECS and visual timetables.

As the child may find the classroom environment overwhelming at times, you will also support them in individual intervention sessions in a quiet space, ensuring they feel safe and supported in their learning journey.

Experience with SEND and non-verbal communication strategies is beneficial but not essential. If you are passionate about making a difference in early years education, we would love to hear from you!

Responsibilities of the Learning Support Assistant Jobs Colchester:

Provide one-to-one support to a non-verbal child in Reception
Use visual communication aids (PECS, visual timetables) to support learning and interaction
Assist with structured interventions in a quieter setting when needed
Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to implement tailored strategies
Foster a positive, nurturing learning environment that promotes the child’s development

Requirements for the Learning Support Assistant Jobs Colchester:

GCSE’s or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in education or related field advantageous.
Previous experience as a teaching assistant or in a similar educational role is preferred.

Experience supporting non verbal communication is desirable but not essential
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work effectively with students of varying abilities and backgrounds.
Enhanced DBS check.
