A well-regarded secondary school in Welwyn is seeking a motivated and committed teacher to join their dynamic Science department from September 2025, on a full-time basis for at least one academic year with the potential to go permanent for the right candidate.
About the Role:
You’ll be delivering high-quality Science lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential to specialise in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics depending on your strengths. You’ll join a collaborative team in a school known for its supportive leadership, strong student engagement, and positive learning environment.
Key Responsibilities for a Science Teacher:
- Deliver high-quality science lessons (across Physics, Chemistry, and Biology) to Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 students, following the school’s curriculum.
- Ensure that lessons are engaging, interactive, and appropriately differentiated to meet the needs of all students.
- Manage classroom behaviour effectively, promoting a positive and respectful learning environment.
- Work closely with school staff to ensure smooth transitions and continuity in learning for students.
- Provide feedback to students on their progress and support their academic development.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student attendance and performance.
- Adhere to the school’s safeguarding and health and safety policies.
Requirements:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
- A degree in Science (Physics, Chemistry, or Biology).
- Experience teaching Science at Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Excellent classroom management skills and the ability to engage and motivate students.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well within a team.
- A flexible, proactive approach to teaching and adapting to different school environments.
- A passion for science education and the ability to inspire students.
