4myschools are looking for a SEN LSA to work at a Primary school in Norwich, Norfolk.
Start Date: June 2025 (TBC)
Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:40am – 3:10pm
Contract: Long-term role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a welcoming and nurturing small village primary school on the outskirts of Norwich. This is a long-term opportunity to make a real difference in the life of a young learner.
About the Role:
You will be working 1:1 with a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) who is non-verbal. The role requires someone patient, intuitive, and resilient, who can support the child’s communication, sensory, and learning needs throughout the school day. You’ll work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals to deliver consistent and tailored support.
Key Responsibilities for a SEN LSA:
- Provide 1:1 support to a non-verbal pupil with ASD
- Implement individualised learning and behaviour strategies
- Foster a safe, supportive, and inclusive learning environment
- Support communication through tools such as PECS, Makaton, or AAC (training provided if necessary)
- Assist with personal care when needed
- Work collaboratively with staff and parents to monitor progress and adapt support
Requirements:
SEN LSA Position
- Experience working with children with ASD or in a SEN setting
- A calm, patient, and flexible approach
- Strong communication skills
- An understanding of non-verbal communication methods (desirable but not essential)
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting pupil well-being
