Hours: Full-time 8:30 to 15:30

PAY: From £87 per day no umbrella companies

We are currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Learning Support Assistant (LSA) for a varied and rewarding role supporting two pupils within KS1 in a school in Colchester.

This is a full-time position, split across two 1:1 support roles:

Morning:

Support a vibrant and energetic pupil with ADHD, trauma-related behaviours, and social care involvement (Child in Need Plan).

Highly active – always on the move
Struggles to stay in class; prefers working in the nurture room
Known to throw objects, run away, or climb
Requires manual handling training
2:1 support in place – you will work as part of a two-adult team

Afternoon:

Support a bright, highly intelligent child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and complex learning needs.

Not behaviourally challenging, but requires constant mental stimulation
Struggles to engage with routine classroom activities
Needs creative and personalised approaches to learning

 

Key Responsibilities:

Supporting the class teacher in delivering engaging lessons and age/ability tailored activities
Working with small groups or one-on-one with students to support learning
Assisting in classroom management and behaviour support
Encouraging student engagement and development

Requirements:

Experience working with children with ADHD, ASD, or trauma-informed practice
Calm, patient, and proactive approach to behaviour and engagement
Manual handling training (or willingness to undergo training)
Confident working 1:1 and as part of a wider support team
Able to commit to a 5-day week
