SEN TA – North Walsham – Norfolk
4myschools are recruiting for SEN TA to work part time AM (mornings only)in a long term supply position. The role will be working in a SRB unit in a Primary school in North Walsham providing them with 1:1 support for pupils with a variety of additional needs such as Autism, ADHD and Challenging Behaviour. The school benefits from extensive grounds and an attractive site, which are well used both by the school and the local community. We are very lucky to have a large field, two hard standing play areas, an adventure playground and woodland area. The school has recently made many improvements to the outdoor provision in order to provide learning opportunities across the curriculum

As the ideal SEN TA, you will:
- Ideally had previous experience working with children
- Be punctual and professional
- Be flexible and reliable
- Have competencies in building rapport, by being engaging and approachable to the children you teach and fellow professionals you work alongside
- Have an Enhanced, child workforce, disclosure, that is on the update service (preferred but not essential as we can help you apply for this)
Your responsibilities as a SEN TA will include:
- Responsible for delivering high quality support to children
- Supporting the child in and outside of the classroom
- Break and lunch time cover
- Support the class teacher by helping with classroom management
- Provide feedback to the class teacher, and other professionals, on observations you’ve made that day
- Acting as a role model
What the successfully appointed SEN Teaching Assistant will have:
- Grade 4 (C) or above in both English and Maths at GCSE level
- Previous experience supporting children or adults with SEND or SEMH needs
- Knowledge of a variety of strategies to support the child’s additional needs, such as PECS, Makaton, and Visual timetables
- A valid, child workforce, Enhanced DBS (please note you can apply for this via 4myschools if you do not currently have this in place)
- A proactive and can-do attitude with willingness to work within a team
- A positive approach to classroom management helping create a positive learning environment
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- A holistic approach to supporting children’s development
