Job description:

4myschools is recruiting a Speech and Language Assistant for a primary school in Clacton, Essex. In this role, you will provide high-quality one-on-one support to a non-verbal Year 1 child. Along with assisting them in class, you will lead focused intervention sessions in a dedicated, quieter workspace.

You will collaborate with the class teacher, SENDCO, and Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) to deliver holistic support. Furthermore, you will also provide feedback on the techniques and strategies currently in place to support the child’s ongoing development. By doing so, you will help ensure continuous improvement and overall effectiveness.

Requirements:

As the successfully appointed candidate for this role, you will need to have previous experience using SLCN strategies, such as PECS, Makaton, and BSL. In addition, familiarity with visual timetables like Now and Next boards will be beneficial. Moreover, while a qualification in Speech and Language Therapy (or a similar field) would be advantageous, it is not essential for the position.

Additionally, as part of the team of support assistants within the school, you will need to be both flexible and reliable. Furthermore, you must possess strong skills in adapting your approach to meet individual needs. Likewise, having the confidence to use your initiative and remain self-motivated will be crucial.

Finally, it is essential that you have an Enhanced Child Workforce Disclosure—either one that is registered on the update service or a new one you are willing to pay for.
