We are seeking a caring and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a lovely primary school, supporting pupils and the class teacher in their Reception class. This is an exciting opportunity to work with young children as they settle into the foundation stage, helping them transition smoothly from early years settings into primary school life. You will play a key role in helping children gain confidence, develop independence, and engage in explorative play, fostering a love of learning from the start of their school journey. In this role, you will support children across a variety of activities throughout the day. Reception pupils are introduced to early literacy skills, including sounds and phonics, alongside numeracy, creative play, and social development. The classroom is organised with different activity stations, providing hands-on, interactive learning opportunities. You will work with small groups, delivering targeted support during lessons and activities, and provide one-to-one support for children who need extra assistance to fully access the curriculum.

The Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate will be patient, adaptable, and passionate about early years education, with the ability to engage young children through play and practical learning experiences. A commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment is essential, along with strong communication skills to work effectively with children, teachers, and parents..

Relevant experience or qualifications in education or childcare (desirable)
Your responsibilities will include observing and understanding individual children’s needs, encouraging positive behaviour, and supporting emotional and social development. You will assist with planning and preparing resources, guide children through structured and free-choice activities, and promote independence by giving children the confidence to explore and try new things. Working closely with the class teacher, you will help ensure all children’s learning and development are supported, celebrate achievements, and contribute to a welcoming and nurturing classroom environment.
