We are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Chelmsford area for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to join their supportive team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced LSA or someone with strong EYFS and primary school knowledge who is passionate about helping children achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to support pupils across the Early Years Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1/2, providing both classroom and small-group support. You will play a key role in helping children access the curriculum, promoting positive behaviour, encouraging independence, and supporting pupils with a range of learning needs. The role may also involve supporting children with additional needs, delivering targeted interventions, assisting with phonics, literacy and numeracy activities, preparing classroom resources, and contributing to a safe, engaging and nurturing learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic  and confident working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, EYFS Practitioner or within a primary school setting. A strong understanding of the EYFS framework and primary curriculum is highly desirable, alongside experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, speech and language needs, SEMH or learning difficulties. Applicants must hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE Maths and English and demonstrate excellent communication, patience and interpersonal skills. A flexible, proactive and positive approach is essential, as is the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff and parents. Due to the location of the school and the nature of supply and temporary education work, access to your own transport or reliable travel arrangements would be advantageous. Candidates must be available Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm during term time and hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
