We are delighted to be recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join a welcoming and supportive school community. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced HLTA, Teaching Assistant looking to progress their career, or an education professional with strong curriculum knowledge and a passion for supporting children’s learning and development. Working closely with teachers and senior leaders, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality learning experiences, supporting pupils both in class and through targeted interventions, and helping to create a positive and inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive. As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting teaching and learning across a range of year groups and subjects. Duties will include delivering planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher, supporting small groups and individual pupils, assessing and monitoring progress, implementing intervention programmes, providing classroom support, and contributing to the planning and preparation of learning activities. You will work collaboratively with teaching staff to meet the needs of all learners, including those requiring additional support, while promoting positive behaviour, engagement, and wellbeing throughout the school day. The successful candidate will be a confident communicator, able to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents alike.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be proactive  and capable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a primary or secondary school setting in a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or similar educational support role. A recognised HLTA qualification is desirable, although experienced candidates with relevant classroom leadership experience will also be considered. Applicants must hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English and Mathematics. You will have a strong understanding of the National Curriculum, experience supporting pupils with a range of learning needs, and the confidence to lead whole-class learning when required. A positive, proactive, and flexible approach is essential, along with excellent organisational and communication skills. Due to the location and nature of the role, access to reliable transport is desirable. Candidates should be available to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 3:30pm, term time only, for the duration of the booking.
