Immediate opportunity! Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Primary) – South Woodham Ferris

At 4myschools, we are currently seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to support a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the South Woodham Ferrers area on a short-term basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident HLTA or experienced Teaching Assistant looking to take on additional responsibility within a nurturing educational environment where pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential academically, socially and emotionally. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting teaching and learning across the school, delivering planned lessons during teacher absence, leading small group interventions, providing targeted support to pupils with additional learning needs, and working collaboratively with teaching staff to create an engaging and positive learning experience. You will be expected to support classroom management, monitor pupil progress, adapt learning activities to meet individual needs, and contribute to maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.

The ideal candidate should be committed  and confident working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, Cover Supervisor, Learning Support Assistant or experienced Teaching Assistant within a primary school setting. A recognised HLTA qualification is desirable; however, candidates with substantial classroom experience and the confidence to lead whole-class learning will also be considered. Applicants must hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English and Maths. Experience supporting children across the primary curriculum and working with pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or additional learning requirements, would be highly advantageous. The successful applicant will be adaptable, proactive, and able to build positive relationships with pupils and staff quickly. Due to the nature of supply work and local travel requirements, access to reliable transport is desirable. Candidates should be available Monday to Friday during the booking period and have a genuine passion for supporting children’s learning and development.
