As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting teaching and learning across the school. You will work closely with class teachers to deliver planned lessons, lead whole-class learning in the teacher’s absence, provide targeted interventions, and support pupils with a range of learning abilities and educational needs. The role will involve assisting with curriculum delivery, monitoring pupil progress, promoting positive behaviour, supporting literacy and numeracy development, and contributing to the creation of an engaging and inclusive classroom environment. You may also be required to support children with additional needs, including Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), ensuring appropriate strategies are used to help them access learning and achieve positive outcomes.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should be committed  and confident working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working within a primary school setting as a Teaching Assistant, HLTA or similar educational support role. Applicants should hold GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above as a minimum requirement. A recognised HLTA qualification or equivalent classroom leadership experience would be highly advantageous. Strong knowledge of the primary curriculum, confidence leading small groups and whole-class activities, and experience supporting pupils with SEND would be beneficial. The ideal candidate will be enthusiastic, adaptable, organised and passionate about helping children succeed. Due to the location and the nature of school-based work, access to reliable transport is desirable. Candidates must be available Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm during term time and be committed to building positive relationships with pupils, staff and parents.
