4myschools are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and nurturing primary school seeking a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to support pupils within a Year 2 class. This is an exciting opportunity to join a caring and inclusive school community where every child is encouraged to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning. The successful candidate will work closely with the class teacher to provide classroom support, deliver targeted interventions and assist children in reaching their full potential both academically and socially. You may be supporting small groups or providing 1:1 assistance where required, helping pupils engage with the Key Stage 1 curriculum, promoting positive behaviour, and contributing to a safe, stimulating learning environment. The role may also involve supporting children with additional learning needs, adapting activities to meet individual requirements and assisting with lesson preparation and classroom organisation. This is a rewarding position for someone who is passionate about making a positive difference in children’s educational journeys.

About the ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic  and confident working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant or within a similar educational setting, although individuals with relevant childcare, youth work or SEND experience are also encouraged to apply. A strong understanding of the Key Stage 1 curriculum, particularly Year 2 expectations, would be advantageous. We are looking for someone patient, enthusiastic and committed to helping children achieve their best. Experience supporting pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional and mental health needs would be highly beneficial. Applicants must hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE Maths and English and possess excellent communication and teamwork skills. Due to the location of the school and the nature of the role, access to reliable transport is desirable. Candidates must be available Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, during term time and be able to commit to the duration of the booking.
