4myschools are seeking a caring, enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive Primary School. This is an exciting opportunity for an individual who is passionate about supporting children with Special Educational Needs and helping them to achieve their full potential within a nurturing educational environment. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers, SENCOs and wider support staff to provide tailored support to pupils with additional needs. Responsibilities will include supporting children on a 1:1 basis and within small groups, adapting learning activities to meet individual needs, promoting engagement and independence, assisting with the implementation of EHCPs and behaviour support strategies, monitoring and recording pupil progress, and helping to create a safe, inclusive and positive learning environment. You may also support pupils with communication difficulties, autism spectrum condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language needs, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH) or other additional learning requirements.

About the ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic  and comfortable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working with children, ideally within a primary school or SEN setting, although applicants with relevant care, youth work, nursery, coaching or support work backgrounds are also encouraged to apply. A good understanding of Special Educational Needs and strategies to support learners with additional needs would be highly advantageous. Applicants should possess excellent communication skills, patience, empathy and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff and families. A minimum qualification of GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in Maths and English is essential. Candidates should be available to work Monday to Friday during term time and have reliable transport or the ability to commute to the school consistently.
