Staff work collaboratively to promote high standards of learning whilst ensuring that each child receives the individual support they need to thrive. As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO and wider pastoral team to provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs. These may include Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, speech and language difficulties, social, emotional and mental health needs (SEMH), and learning difficulties. Your responsibilities will include delivering one-to-one and small group interventions, adapting learning activities to meet individual needs, supporting pupils both inside and outside the classroom, encouraging positive behaviour, monitoring progress and helping to develop pupils’ independence and social skills. You will play a key role in ensuring children remain engaged in their learning and feel safe, supported and included throughout the school day.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be motivated  and comfortable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar child-centred role. Applications are also welcomed from candidates who have relevant experience supporting children with additional needs in education, care or community settings. A good understanding of Special Educational Needs and the primary curriculum would be advantageous, alongside strong communication skills, patience, empathy and a proactive approach to supporting learning. Applicants must hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English and Maths and be able to commit to working Monday to Friday during term time. Due to the location, access to reliable transport would be beneficial. An enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one, will be required.
