Current opening! SEND Hub Learning Support Assistant – Chelmsford
A welcoming primary school is seeking a dedicated SEND Hub Learning Support Assistant to join its specialist provision supporting children with a range of complex needs.
This is a long-term opportunity with the potential to become a permanent position following a minimum 12-week agency placement. The role is Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 3:00pm, with a 30-minute lunch break. This primary school is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive environment where every child can thrive. The SEND Hub supports pupils with a variety of additional needs and benefits from a collaborative approach between teaching staff, the SENDCO, and dedicated support professionals.
The successful candidate will join a team focused on helping children achieve their individual goals through tailored support and encouragement. You will work within a specialist SEND Hub alongside two other Learning Support Assistants, supporting seven primary-aged pupils with complex additional needs. The children present with a range of needs including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), speech and language difficulties, and Down syndrome. The SENDCO will lead and plan provision, with Learning Support Assistants delivering interventions, supporting classroom learning, and helping pupils develop socially, emotionally, and academically.

Candidate profile
The ideal candidate should be proactive and capable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.
We are looking for a candidate who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.
We are looking for a compassionate and patient individual who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs. Previous experience working with pupils with ASD, speech and language needs, Down syndrome, or other complex SEND requirements would be highly beneficial. The successful candidate will be a strong team player, able to work collaboratively with the SENDCO and fellow Learning Support Assistants. Excellent communication skills, adaptability, and a nurturing approach are essential. A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children is expected at all times.
