4myschools are delighted to be supporting a specialist educational setting in Lowestoft that is seeking a Part‑Time Outreach Worker for the upcoming Summer Term. The school is conveniently located close to the town’s main bus station and only a short walk from the train station, with on‑site parking available for staff who drive. This small, nurturing provision supports students aged 11–16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, all of whom have Education, Health and Care Plans. The school places strong importance on understanding each young person’s individual starting point and building their confidence through carefully structured learning, emotional support, and positive relationships. Their curriculum intentionally blends academic development with social and emotional growth, recognising that many pupils have faced disrupted or negative experiences in previous educational settings. Staff work closely with pupils to help them settle into learning, develop self‑belief, and gradually rebuild independence. The environment is calm, consistent and relationship‑driven, with clear routines and a focus on supporting students to feel safe, motivated and ready to learn. Many pupils flourish through a combination of structured lessons, tailored activities and meaningful experiences in the community. In this role, you will work both on‑site and out in the community, supporting one or two young people with their studies, interests and personal development. You’ll be helping them build trust, aspiration and independence—key elements of the school’s ethos and therapeutic approach. This position is ideal for someone who believes in the power of relationships, patience and creativity to change young people’s lives for the better.
The ideal candidate
Demonstrable experience supporting young people with SEND, particularly those with SEMH needs. Ability to commit to 12 consecutive weeks during the Summer Term. Confidence working both on the school site and within the wider community. Strong relational skills and the resilience to support young people who may have felt disengaged or unsettled in previous school environments. Clear communication skills and the ability to collaborate with school staff and external professionals. A calm, positive approach to behaviour and emotional support, with an understanding of therapeutic or emotionally informed practice. Desirable Qualities Experience adapting activities to meet individual needs or interests. Familiarity with trauma‑informed approaches or personalised learning pathways. If you are passionate about offering stability, encouragement and genuinely life‑changing support to young people, we would love to hear from you.
