We are recruiting for a caring, enthusiastic and proactive Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Basildon. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous classroom support experience or for individuals who have a strong understanding of the primary curriculum and a passion for helping children reach their full potential. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers to support learning across the classroom, helping pupils engage with lessons, build confidence and achieve positive outcomes. As part of the role, you will also provide occasional support to a small group of children with low-level Special Educational Needs (SEN), adapting activities where required and encouraging their social, emotional and academic development. Duties will include supporting teaching and learning activities, assisting with classroom organisation, promoting positive behaviour, preparing resources, monitoring pupil progress and helping to create a safe, engaging and nurturing learning environment where every child feels valued and supported.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be motivated  and capable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

We are looking for a candidate who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

We are looking for an adaptable and approachable individual who is passionate about education and committed to making a positive difference in children’s lives. Candidates should ideally have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or within a similar educational setting. Applications are also welcomed from individuals with relevant curriculum knowledge or experience supporting children with additional needs. A minimum of GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths is essential. Strong communication skills, patience, initiative and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff are key requirements for this role. Due to the location and working hours, access to reliable transport would be advantageous. The position is term time only, working Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, and would suit someone who is dedicated, dependable and eager to contribute to a supportive school community.
