Current opening! Cover Supervisor (Primary) – Wickford

We are working with a friendly and inclusive primary school in Wickford that is seeking a confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join their team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous Cover Supervisor experience, aspiring teachers looking to gain further classroom exposure, or individuals with strong curriculum knowledge and a passion for supporting children’s learning. The school prides itself on creating a nurturing and engaging learning environment where all pupils are encouraged to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally. As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in maintaining continuity of learning during teacher absences across EYFS, KS1 and KS2. You will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons, managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies, ensuring pupils remain engaged with their learning, and providing feedback to teaching staff regarding pupil progress and participation. You may also support small group interventions, assist pupils with varying learning needs, including Special Educational Needs (SEN), and contribute positively to the wider school community. This role offers variety, responsibility and the opportunity to make a genuine impact on children’s educational experiences.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be proactive  and comfortable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working within a primary school setting, either as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, HLTA, Sports Coach, Youth Worker or similar educational role. Candidates should possess a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English and Maths and demonstrate strong communication, organisation and behaviour management skills. Experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs would be advantageous. The ideal applicant will be flexible, reliable, confident leading a classroom independently and committed to fostering positive relationships with pupils and staff. Due to the location, access to reliable transport is desirable to ensure consistent attendance. Applicants must be available Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, during term time and be willing to undergo all relevant safeguarding and compliance checks, including an enhanced DBS check.
