Current opening! EYFS Teaching Assistant – Bishops Stortford

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to support educators and students within a primary school. The successful candidate will work closely with pre-school aged children, including those with special educational needs, to foster an inclusive and nurturing learning atmosphere. This paid position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about education, mentoring, and working with diverse learners, including those with autism and disabilities. The role involves assisting teachers in delivering lessons, supporting individual student needs, and promoting positive behavioural development.

  • Contract Type: Long Term – Chance to go permanent – Hours: 8:00am to 4:00pm

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be committed  and capable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will have experience supporting children in educational settings, with the ability to assist teachers in delivering engaging, tailored activities that meet individual learning needs. They will be confident working with children with special educational needs, including autism and other disabilities, ensuring full participation in classroom life. Strong communication skills are essential, along with the ability to mentor and motivate students through one‑to‑one support, fostering positive behaviour and social interaction. The candidate will be organised, patient, and adaptable, contributing to effective classroom management and providing support during lessons, breaks, and extracurricular activities. A Level 3 Childcare/Early Years qualification is desirable, and any additional training or experience in special education is an advantage, though not essential. This role offers a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact on young learners’ development.
