4myschools are delighted to be recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and community-focused primary school in the Tendring area for an HLTA or experienced cover professional to provide planned leadership release time cover and absence cover across the school. This role is available immediately, with dates already being confirmed for key events, including One Plan meetings, making this an excellent opportunity for someone looking to secure regular work on a flexible basis. The position is expected to be 1-2 days per week, although the required days may vary, so flexibility in availability is highly desirable. You will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons, maintaining a positive and engaging learning environment and ensuring continuity of learning in the absence of the class teacher. The successful candidate could work across any of the school’s mixed-age classes, supporting pupils to achieve their full potential while upholding high standards of behaviour, safeguarding and inclusion. This small voluntary aided primary school serves a village community and provides a warm, inclusive environment for children aged 5-11. The school is recognised for its strong pastoral support, commitment to reading, positive relationships and focus on personal development. Pupils benefit from a broad and ambitious curriculum, excellent support for children with SEND and a variety of enrichment opportunities that encourage confidence, responsibility and engagement. The rural setting offers a true community feel while remaining within convenient commuting distance of larger Essex towns.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should be proactive  and confident working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will hold HLTA status, although experienced unqualified candidates who have previously worked in a similar cover role within a primary school will also be considered. You will have strong curriculum knowledge across Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, excellent classroom management skills and the confidence to lead learning independently. Applicants must hold a minimum of Grade 4/C GCSE (or equivalent) in English and Maths. Due to the rural location and varying working days, access to your own transport would be advantageous. A flexible, reliable and proactive approach is essential as this role requires supporting different year groups as required throughout the school.
