A secondary school in Wellingborough is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Mentor to support students who face barriers to learning. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working with young people with Special Educational Needs and will be committed to helping students overcome challenges that may be linked to learning difficulties, social and emotional needs, or confidence issues. This role requires a positive, patient and encouraging individual who can build trusting relationships with students and help them recognise their potential.

The ideal candidate

The Learning Mentor will play a key part in helping students improve their engagement, attendance and overall attitude towards education. By offering consistent support, you will guide students to develop a love of learning and understand how their hard work can open doors to opportunities beyond school. Much of the role involves helping students to believe in themselves, set goals and recognise the value of perseverance. You will support pupils who may struggle with self-esteem, motivation or emotional regulation, providing SEMH support where needed and helping them build resilience. Working closely with teachers, pastoral staff and families, you will contribute to personalised plans that promote academic progress, emotional wellbeing and personal growth. This is a rewarding position for someone who is passionate about making a difference and wants to help shape the future of young people by giving them the confidence, tools and encouragement to succeed both inside and outside the classroom.
