The successful Learning Support Assistant will be based within a Year 1/2 mixed class, providing general classroom support alongside the class teacher and assisting pupils with additional learning needs. A significant part of the role will involve supporting children with Special Educational Needs, particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Duties will include helping pupils access learning activities, promoting positive behaviour and engagement, adapting support to meet individual learning needs, assisting with classroom organisation, supporting small group interventions and helping to create an inclusive learning environment where every child can achieve success. The role also includes a 30-minute lunchtime break and 30 minutes of Midday Assistant duties, supervising children during lunchtime and ensuring their safety and wellbeing throughout the school day.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be motivated  and comfortable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

We are seeking a positive, patient and enthusiastic individual with previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or within a primary school setting. Experience supporting children with ASD and other additional needs is highly desirable. Applicants should have a good understanding of Key Stage 1 learning and be confident supporting pupils both on a one-to-one basis and within small groups. A minimum qualification of GCSE Grade 4 (or C) in English and Maths is essential. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, adaptability, resilience and a genuine passion for helping children reach their full potential. Due to the village location of the school, access to reliable transport is strongly recommended.
