This is an exciting opportunity for a Nursery Assistant who already has some experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and is eager to develop their knowledge, gain further exposure, and build a long-term career within the SEN sector. Working alongside experienced practitioners and SEN professionals, you will support children aged 2-5 years with their learning, play, communication, social development, and emotional wellbeing. Your responsibilities will include assisting with daily nursery routines, supporting planned activities aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS), adapting learning opportunities to meet individual needs, promoting positive behaviour, observing and recording children’s progress, and helping create an engaging, safe and stimulating environment where every child feels valued and supported. This role offers fantastic professional development opportunities for candidates keen to expand their SEN experience within an established early years setting.

About the ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic  and confident working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

We are looking for a caring, patient and enthusiastic individual who has previous experience working within a nursery, preschool, childcare setting, school environment, or alongside children with additional needs. A genuine passion for supporting children with SEN is essential, along with a willingness to learn from experienced professionals and undertake further training where required. Applicants should hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English and Maths, possess strong communication skills, and demonstrate a nurturing and proactive approach to supporting young children. An understanding of EYFS and experience supporting children with autism, speech and language needs, ADHD, sensory needs or developmental delays would be advantageous but is not essential. Due to the location, candidates should ideally have access to reliable transport. Availability is required Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, term time only, with a commitment to maintaining a positive and inclusive learning environment.
