We are looking for caring, enthusiastic and reliable Nursery Assistants to join our supply team and support a variety of nursery and early years settings across Chelmsford and Basildon. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Nursery Assistants, Early Years Practitioners, Teaching Assistants or those with a strong understanding of child development who are seeking a flexible role that fits around their lifestyle. Working on a supply basis offers variety and the chance to gain experience across different settings while making a positive impact on young children’s learning and development. As a Nursery Assistant, you will support children aged 0-5 years by helping to create a safe, stimulating and nurturing environment where they can learn through play. Your responsibilities will include supporting planned activities in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, encouraging children’s social, emotional and educational development, assisting with personal care where required, supporting snack and meal times, and maintaining a positive and engaging atmosphere throughout the day. You may also work with children who have additional needs or Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping them access learning opportunities and develop confidence and independence. Flexibility and adaptability are key as you will be supporting a range of nursery settings across the area.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be proactive  and confident working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a nursery, preschool, childcare or primary school setting and possess a genuine passion for supporting young children during their formative years. A relevant Early Years qualification is desirable but not essential for candidates with suitable experience. Applicants should hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English and Maths and have a good understanding of the EYFS curriculum. Experience supporting children with SEND would be advantageous. We are looking for individuals who are patient, proactive, nurturing and able to build positive relationships with children, parents and colleagues. Due to the nature of supply work across Chelmsford and Basildon, candidates should have access to reliable transport or be able to travel independently between settings. Availability for at least several days per week during term time is highly desirable.
