Current opening! SEND Teaching Assistant & Learning Support Assistant Roles – 2-5 Days Per Week – Ipswich

Are you looking for a rewarding role where every day brings the opportunity to make a genuine difference? 4myschools is recruiting for flexible SEND Teaching Assistants and Learning Support Assistants to support a welcoming primary school in rural Suffolk. We are keen to hear from experienced SEND professionals as well as individuals who can bring valuable transferable skills from backgrounds such as care, youth work, children’s services, coaching, mentoring or support work. This role offers a mixture of planned bookings and on-the-day assignments, making it ideal for those seeking flexibility while still enjoying regular work opportunities. Working hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, during term time only, with opportunities available from 2 to 5 days per week. Set within a picturesque rural location, this well-regarded primary school provides a calm and supportive learning environment for children aged 4 to 11. Surrounded by extensive grounds and outdoor learning spaces, the school places equal importance on academic achievement, personal development and pupil wellbeing. Staff work collaboratively to create engaging learning experiences which build confidence, independence and resilience, while ensuring every child feels valued and included. The school has established a strong reputation for nurturing positive relationships with pupils and families and delivers a highly inclusive approach to supporting children with additional needs. As a SEND Teaching Assistant / Learning Support Assistant, you will work alongside teachers and SEND professionals to help children access learning and achieve their individual goals. You could be supporting pupils on a one-to-one basis, helping small groups within the classroom, adapting activities to meet individual needs, encouraging social development, promoting positive behaviour and supporting children who may require additional emotional or communication support. Assignments may involve working with pupils who have autism, ADHD, SEMH needs, speech and language difficulties or moderate learning needs. No two days are the same, making this a highly rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys building relationships and helping children gain confidence in their abilities.

  • Contract duration: Ongoing
  • Contract type: PART_TIME, FULL_TIME, TEMPORARY – Hours: 8:30-3:30
  • Age groups: EYFS, Key Stage 1, Key Stage 2

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be committed  and confident working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, SEN Support Worker, Care Assistant, Family Support Worker, Youth Worker or within another role supporting children or vulnerable individuals. We welcome applications from candidates with relevant knowledge, life experience and transferable skills who can demonstrate patience, empathy and a genuine passion for helping children succeed. A minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE Maths and English is essential. Due to the school’s rural location and the challenges of public transport in the area, applicants must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to their own vehicle. Flexibility to accept both pre-booked work and occasional same-morning assignments would be highly beneficial. This is an excellent opportunity to join a school community where children are encouraged to flourish, staff are valued and every day presents the chance to have a lasting impact on a young person’s educational journey.
