4myschools are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Bury St Edmunds area for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. This role is available on either a full-time basis, working Monday to Friday, or part-time working Wednesday to Friday only. Working hours are 8:30am to 3:30pm, term time only. The position is initially offered on a temporary basis with the opportunity to secure a permanent contract for the right candidate. This nurturing primary setting has a strong focus on creating a positive learning environment where every child is encouraged to develop confidence, independence and a love of learning. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers and the wider school team to support pupils throughout the school day. Responsibilities will include assisting with the delivery of engaging learning activities, supporting individuals and small groups within the classroom, preparing learning resources, encouraging positive behaviour, promoting pupil engagement and helping to ensure all children can access the curriculum effectively. You may also provide additional support to pupils with varying learning needs, helping them to achieve both academically and socially within a supportive and structured environment.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be committed  and capable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Nursery Practitioner or within a similar child-centred role. Experience supporting children within a primary school environment would be advantageous, as would experience of working with pupils with additional needs. You will be a patient, caring and proactive individual who enjoys making a positive difference to children’s educational experiences. Applicants must hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English and Maths and possess strong communication and teamwork skills. Candidates should be available to start in September and commit to either the full-time position or the Wednesday, Thursday and Friday working pattern. Due to the location of the school, access to transport is desirable.
