We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join a friendly and nurturing primary school in Great Leighs. This is an excellent opportunity to support pupils within Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 and become part of a caring school community that places children’s wellbeing, confidence and academic achievement at the heart of everything it does. The successful candidate will work closely with class teachers to provide high-quality support both inside and outside the classroom. Responsibilities will include assisting with the delivery of engaging learning activities, supporting pupils with literacy and numeracy development, helping to create an inclusive and positive learning environment, monitoring pupil progress, preparing classroom resources and encouraging positive behaviour. You may also provide targeted intervention support to small groups of children and offer additional assistance to pupils with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) where required. The school provides a warm and welcoming setting where pupils are encouraged to develop independence, resilience and a love of learning. Staff work collaboratively to ensure that every child receives the support and encouragement they need to achieve their full potential, making this a rewarding environment for a Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic  and capable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

We are looking for a Teaching Assistant who has previous experience working within a primary school setting, particularly within Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2, although applications are also welcomed from candidates with relevant education-based experience, SEND knowledge or transferable childcare experience. The ideal candidate will hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE Maths and English and demonstrate a good understanding of the primary curriculum. Strong communication skills, patience, adaptability and a genuine passion for supporting children’s development are essential. Experience supporting children with additional learning needs, speech and language difficulties or social, emotional and mental health needs would be advantageous. Due to the location, candidates should have reliable access to transport and be available to work Monday to Friday during term time.
