We are working with a welcoming primary school in the Bishop’s Stortford area to recruit a Year 1 Teaching Assistant to support pupils during a key stage of their early learning and supporting children with SEN. The school offers a calm and structured environment where staff work closely together to support pupils’ academic progress, confidence, and social development. The Teaching Assistant will work alongside the class teacher, supporting learning activities, routines, and behaviour expectations throughout the school day. This position is available on a full‑time or part‑time basis, making it suitable for a range of availability.

• Contract duration: Ongoing
• Contract type: FULL_TIME, PART_TIME – Hours: 8.00-3.30
• Age groups: Year 1

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be committed  and comfortable working with pupils in a Primary Schools setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

This role is suitable for someone who enjoys working with younger children and wants to play a hands‑on role in the classroom. You will be patient, reliable, and confident working with children in a Key Stage 1 setting. You should be comfortable following direction from the class teacher while also using initiative to support pupils effectively. A calm and positive approach to behaviour and learning is important, as is the ability to build supportive relationships with young children. Experience in a primary school or early years setting is beneficial but not essential, alongside working with children with SEN.
