Are you an experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistant looking for flexible supply work across Chelmsford? At 4myschools, we are seeking confident, enthusiastic and adaptable HLTAs to support a variety of welcoming and inclusive primary schools, with a particular focus on Key Stage 1 classrooms. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced teaching assistants who enjoy delivering learning, supporting pupil progress and making a positive impact across different school settings. As a HLTA on supply, you will work closely with teaching staff to support the delivery of engaging lessons, lead small group and whole-class learning activities, provide targeted intervention support, and cover classes during teacher absence when required. You will be expected to encourage positive behaviour, support pupils with varying learning needs, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), and help create a nurturing learning environment where children can thrive academically and socially. The role offers variety and flexibility, allowing you to build relationships across multiple schools while gaining valuable classroom experience.

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be committed  and capable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

We are looking for a candidate who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, Cover Supervisor or in a similar school-based role. A recognised HLTA qualification is desirable although candidates with significant classroom experience and confidence leading learning will also be considered. Applicants must hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE English and Maths. Strong knowledge of the Key Stage 1 curriculum is essential, along with experience supporting children of differing abilities, including pupils with SEND. You will be a proactive communicator, capable of working independently and as part of a team, with excellent behaviour management skills and a genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential. Due to the nature of supply work across Chelmsford and surrounding areas, applicants should have access to their own transport or be able to travel reliably between schools. Flexibility, professionalism and availability to work during school hours on a term-time basis are highly desirable.
