4myschools are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Chelmsford for a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a Key Stage 2 pupil. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to deliver tailored support that meets the individual needs of the pupil. Your responsibilities will include supporting learning activities across the Key Stage 2 curriculum, adapting resources where necessary, encouraging engagement and independence, promoting positive behaviour, monitoring progress, and helping to develop the pupil’s confidence both inside and outside the classroom. You may also support social interaction during breaktimes, assist with emotional regulation strategies, and contribute to maintaining a safe, inclusive learning environment. The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring the child remains fully engaged and able to participate in all aspects of school life.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should be committed  and comfortable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

We are seeking an enthusiastic, patient, and resilient individual who has previous experience working as a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant, or in a similar educational support role. Applications are also welcomed from candidates with strong knowledge of the Key Stage 2 curriculum or experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism, ADHD, speech and language needs, or social, emotional, and mental health needs. A minimum of GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths is essential. Excellent communication skills, a positive attitude, and the ability to build strong relationships with pupils, staff, and parents are key to success in this role. Due to the location and working hours, access to reliable transport is desirable. Candidates must be available to work Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, term time only, for the duration of the placement.
