4myschools is recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded specialist education setting for an experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support sixth form-aged students with complex special educational needs and behaviours that challenge. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled and resilient support professional seeking a long-term role with the potential to become permanent. The setting provides specialist education for young people with a range of complex needs, including significant learning difficulties, physical disabilities and communication needs. Working within a multidisciplinary environment, education staff collaborate closely with therapists, healthcare professionals and support teams to deliver a personalised curriculum focused on independence, communication, employability and life skills. The setting benefits from specialist facilities, therapeutic support services and extensive outdoor spaces that help create engaging learning experiences tailored to individual needs. As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff to support learners throughout the school day, both in the classroom and during vocational or life-skills activities. You will help students access learning, develop social and communication skills, build independence and regulate their emotions. A key part of the role will involve supporting students who display behaviours that challenge, using positive behaviour support strategies, consistency and relationship-based approaches to create a safe and productive learning environment. You may also support learners with personal care, mobility needs and specialist equipment where required.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be proactive  and confident working with pupils in a SEN School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful candidate will have previous experience supporting young people or adults with complex SEND, severe learning difficulties, autism, communication needs or behaviours that challenge. Experience as a Learning Support Assistant, SEND Teaching Assistant, Support Worker, Care Worker, Residential Support Worker or similar role would be highly desirable. You will be patient, calm under pressure, resilient and passionate about helping young people achieve their full potential. You must hold a minimum of GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths and be available for the following working pattern: Monday: 8:30am to 4:30pm Tuesday: 8:30am to 5:00pm Wednesday: 8:30am to 4:30pm Thursday: 8:30am to 4:30pm Friday: 8:30am to 3:45pm Due to the rural location of the setting and limited public transport options, a full driving licence and access to your own vehicle are essential.
