Current opening! EYFS Teaching Assistant (Short-Term Cover) – Ipswich

4myschools are recruiting on behalf of a welcoming and inclusive primary academy in Suffolk for an experienced EYFS Teaching Assistant to provide short-term cover on a morning-only basis. This position has become available due to an increase in support requirements within the Reception class, where several children are currently settling into school with identified additional needs, including EHCPs, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN), including non-verbal pupils. The school is seeking an additional adult to help ensure children receive the support, reassurance and individual guidance they need during the important transition into school life. This well-respected primary academy forms part of a successful multi-academy trust and serves a large and diverse community. Rated Good, with Outstanding Early Years provision, the school is recognised for its nurturing ethos, strong focus on pastoral care and commitment to inclusion. In this role, you will play a key part in supporting Reception-age children to engage in learning, develop communication and social skills, follow routines and build positive relationships within the classroom environment. Working alongside the class teacher and wider EYFS team, you will support children through structured and play-based activities, provide targeted assistance for pupils with additional needs, encourage language development, promote emotional regulation and help create a calm, safe and stimulating learning environment where every child can thrive.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be committed  and capable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful candidate will have previous experience working within an EYFS, Nursery, Preschool or Reception class setting, with confidence supporting young children with additional needs, particularly ASD and communication difficulties. A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Early Years, Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning is highly desirable, and a valid Paediatric First Aid qualification would be advantageous. Applicants must hold GCSE English and Maths at Grade 4/C or above and demonstrate a caring, patient and adaptable approach to supporting children with differing learning and developmental needs. Excellent communication skills, the ability to work effectively as part of a team and a genuine passion for early years education are essential. Candidates should be available Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 3:30pm, for the duration of this short-term booking and have access to reliable transport or be able to travel via local transport links.
