New opportunity! Flexible Youth/Outreach Worker Required – School-Based Support Roles – Ipswich

4myschools is recruiting on behalf of a well-established specialist educational setting in the Ipswich area following a newly established supply partnership with the academy trust that the school belongs to. Due to anticipated demand from September 2026, we are looking to expand our pool of dedicated support staff who can provide flexible cover between two and five days per week. This opportunity is ideal for individuals with experience in youth work, outreach work, mentoring, behaviour support or community-based support services who are looking to transition their skills into education. The school values professionals who can build trust, establish positive relationships and engage pupils who may have experienced barriers to education, social challenges or difficulties regulating their emotions and behaviour. The successful applicant will work closely with pupils on a one-to-one and small group basis throughout the school day, supporting engagement with learning, developing confidence and resilience, and helping young people overcome challenges both inside and outside the classroom. Working alongside teaching, pastoral and leadership teams, you will use your experience to motivate pupils, support emotional wellbeing, encourage positive behaviour and act as a consistent, trusted adult role model. Your ability to communicate effectively, de-escalate challenging situations and build meaningful relationships will be just as important as any educational experience. This flexible role offers work between two and five days per week, with working hours of 8:30am to 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only

About the ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be committed  and capable working with pupils in a Primary and Secondary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

We are particularly interested in hearing from Outreach Workers, Youth Workers, Behaviour Mentors, Family Support Workers, Residential Support Workers, Sports Mentors and other professionals who have experience supporting young people in community or alternative settings. Applicants must hold a minimum Grade 4 (C) GCSE in both English and Maths and be available to work at least two days per week. Previous experience supporting young people with SEMH needs, behaviour challenges, SEND or vulnerable backgrounds would be highly advantageous. Due to the nature of supply work and location of placements, access to reliable transport is essential. Most importantly, we are seeking individuals with a genuine passion for helping young people succeed and the ability to bring consistency, empathy and resilience into the school environment.
