Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic  and capable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

We are looking for a candidate who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate for this Upper KS2 maternity‑cover role in Norwich is someone who brings confidence, warmth, and a strong understanding of what older primary pupils need as they prepare for the transition to secondary school. They hold QTS, have solid experience teaching in Upper Key Stage 2, and can deliver engaging, well‑structured lessons that challenge higher‑attaining pupils while supporting those who need more guidance. They’re calm, consistent, and skilled in behaviour management, creating a classroom environment where pupils feel motivated, respected, and ready to learn. They communicate clearly with pupils, colleagues, and families, and they’re organised enough to step smoothly into an established class while maintaining continuity and high expectations. They’re reflective, positive, and able to build strong relationships quickly — essential for a maternity‑cover role. Most importantly, they bring enthusiasm, resilience, and a genuine passion for helping Year 5 and 6 pupils grow in confidence, independence, and academic readiness.
