Are you a passionate and adaptable PE Teacher looking for flexible supply work in Chelmsford and the surrounding areas? At 4myschools, we are recruiting enthusiastic Secondary PE Teachers to support a variety of local secondary schools on a daily supply basis. This rewarding opportunity offers a mix of practical and classroom-based PE lessons, allowing you to inspire students across Key Stages 3 and 4 while gaining experience in different educational settings. Some bookings may also include general cover across other subjects when required. Schools value reliable teachers who can maintain positive learning environments, deliver engaging lessons, manage behaviour effectively, and ensure students remain motivated and on task throughout the school day. Supply assignments are typically pre-booked with between one and four weeks’ notice, providing greater flexibility and work-life balance while still offering regular opportunities.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should be committed  and comfortable working with pupils in a Secondary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), QTLS, or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification, with experience teaching Physical Education within a secondary school setting. We welcome applications from experienced PE teachers, recently qualified teachers, and educators with strong curriculum knowledge who are confident delivering both practical and theory-based PE lessons. Excellent classroom and behaviour management skills are essential, alongside the ability to quickly adapt to different school environments and establish positive relationships with students and staff. Applicants must hold a minimum of Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE Maths and English, possess a valid enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or be willing to obtain one), and have the right to work in the UK. Due to the nature of travelling between schools across Chelmsford and surrounding areas, access to reliable transport is highly desirable. Availability for pre-booked supply assignments with notice periods ranging from one to four weeks would be advantageous.
