New opening! Secondary Supply Cover Teacher – Thetford

Are you a confident, adaptable and enthusiastic Secondary Teacher looking for flexible teaching opportunities across Thetford and the surrounding areas? We are seeking dedicated General Cover Teachers to support a range of secondary schools throughout Thetford, Brandon, Attleborough, Watton, Mildenhall, Diss and the neighbouring villages. This is an excellent opportunity for qualified teachers who enjoy variety in their work and thrive in different educational environments. Whether your specialism is English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities, PE, Languages, Technology, Creative Arts or another secondary subject, we have a range of opportunities available to provide general lesson cover across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Thetford and the surrounding region offer a diverse mix of schools, from thriving market-town academies to welcoming community schools serving both Norfolk and Suffolk communities. Each school has its own unique culture, providing teachers with the opportunity to broaden their experience, work with a variety of students and develop their skills across different educational settings. Working as a Secondary General Cover Teacher offers flexibility without losing the rewarding aspects of classroom teaching. Assignments can range from day-to-day supply cover and advance bookings to short-term placements and long-term opportunities. Whether you are seeking full-time work, part-time flexibility or occasional assignments around other commitments, we can help you find opportunities that fit your lifestyle and career ambitions. We work closely with a large network of secondary schools across South Norfolk and the surrounding areas who rely on high-quality cover teachers to maintain continuity of learning when regular staff are absent. As a General Cover Teacher, you will play a key role in ensuring students remain engaged, productive and focused throughout the school day while delivering lessons and supervising work set by teaching departments. The variety that comes with supply teaching means every week can look different. One day you may be supporting students in a busy academy in Thetford, while the next you could be covering lessons in a rural secondary school near Watton or Brandon. These varied experiences provide an excellent opportunity to build confidence, expand your teaching toolkit and gain valuable insight into different school environments. Successful candidates will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons, maintaining positive learning environments and ensuring students remain focused and on task. You will be confident managing classroom behaviour, promoting positive relationships and upholding each school’s expectations and policies. Strong communication skills, adaptability and professionalism will be essential to succeed within these varied and rewarding assignments. Schools are looking for teachers who can quickly establish a positive classroom presence, engage learners effectively and contribute positively to the wider school community. You do not need to be a specialist in every subject you cover; however, you should be confident leading classes, following lesson plans and ensuring learning continues in the absence of the regular teacher. This position is ideal for experienced teachers seeking greater flexibility and improved work-life balance, Early Career Teachers looking to gain experience across a variety of school settings, or teachers returning to education who wish to rebuild confidence while maintaining control over their schedule. Supply teaching also provides an excellent opportunity to network with local schools and can often lead to repeat bookings, long-term placements and permanent opportunities. By working across a range of secondary schools, you will gain exposure to different teaching approaches, leadership structures and curriculum delivery models. This valuable experience can further enhance your professional development while helping schools secure the reliable teaching support they need. In return, you will benefit from competitive daily rates of pay, flexible working arrangements, access to a wide variety of local schools and ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant with extensive knowledge of the Norfolk education sector. We take pride in matching talented teachers with schools where they can make the greatest impact while supporting their individual career goals. General Cover teaching is about far more than simply supervising lessons. It provides an opportunity to inspire young people, support schools during critical periods and make a genuine difference to students’ educational experiences. Every placement offers a fresh challenge, a new school community and another opportunity to have a positive impact on learning. If you are a qualified teacher with QTS and are looking for flexible and rewarding teaching opportunities throughout Thetford and the surrounding areas, we would love to hear from you. Whether you are seeking day-to-day supply work, regular weekly cover or longer-term placements, a wide range of opportunities are available throughout the academic year.
