Current opening! Secondary Supply Teacher – Norwich

Are you a confident, adaptable and enthusiastic Secondary Teacher looking for flexible teaching opportunities across Norwich and the surrounding areas? We are seeking dedicated General Cover Teachers to support a wide network of secondary schools throughout Norwich, Wymondham, Aylsham, Dereham, Long Stratton, Acle, Hethersett and nearby communities. This is an exciting opportunity for qualified teachers who enjoy variety in their working week and thrive in different school environments. Whether your background is in English, Maths, Science, Humanities, PE, Languages, Technology, Creative Arts or another specialist subject, we have regular opportunities available to provide general classroom cover across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4. Working as a Secondary General Cover Teacher offers the perfect balance between maintaining your passion for teaching and achieving greater flexibility in your career. With assignments ranging from daily supply cover and pre-booked absence cover to longer-term placements, you can choose opportunities that fit around your lifestyle and professional goals. Whether you are looking for consistent full-time work, part-time flexibility or occasional teaching assignments, we can help you secure roles that suit your availability. We work closely with a large number of secondary schools, academies and multi-academy trusts throughout Norwich and the wider Norfolk area. These schools rely on skilled and reliable cover teachers to maintain high standards of learning when permanent staff are absent. As a General Cover Teacher, you will play a vital role in ensuring pupils remain engaged, focused and productive throughout the school day while following the work set by teaching departments. No two schools are the same, which makes this role both rewarding and diverse. One day you may be supervising a Year 9 Geography lesson in a thriving city academy, while the next you could be supporting Key Stage 4 students within a rural secondary school just outside Norwich. This variety provides excellent professional development opportunities and allows you to experience a range of school cultures, leadership styles and classroom settings. Successful candidates will be responsible for delivering pre-planned lessons across a variety of subjects, managing classroom behaviour effectively and creating a positive learning environment where students can succeed. Strong communication skills, resilience and the ability to establish positive working relationships quickly will be key to your success. You will be comfortable adapting to different school policies and expectations while maintaining professionalism and high standards at all times. Schools are seeking individuals who can confidently step into classrooms, engage learners and ensure continuity of education. You do not need to be a specialist in every subject you cover; rather, schools value teachers who can build rapport with students, maintain classroom routines and create an atmosphere where learning continues effectively in the absence of the regular class teacher. This role is ideal for experienced secondary teachers seeking greater flexibility, Early Career Teachers looking to broaden their experience across different schools, and educators returning to teaching who wish to refresh their skills and confidence in the classroom. It also offers an excellent opportunity for teachers considering permanent positions in the future, as many schools use supply placements as a way of identifying potential long-term staff. By working across multiple schools, you will enhance your adaptability, strengthen your classroom management skills and build valuable relationships with senior leaders and department heads throughout the local education community. Many of our teachers go on to secure repeat bookings, long-term placements or permanent roles within schools where they have made a positive impression. In return, you will benefit from competitive rates of pay, flexible working arrangements and access to a broad range of secondary schools throughout Norwich and surrounding areas. You will receive ongoing support from a dedicated education consultant with extensive knowledge of the local secondary education sector and access to opportunities that match your experience, preferences and career ambitions. General Cover teaching provides far more than simply supervising classes. It allows you to inspire young people, support schools when they need it most and gain experience across a variety of educational settings. Every placement presents a fresh challenge, a new school community and an opportunity to make a genuine difference to students’ learning experiences. If you are a qualified teacher with QTS and are looking for flexible and rewarding secondary teaching opportunities across Norwich and the surrounding areas, we would love to hear from you. Whether you are seeking day-to-day supply work, regular weekly bookings or longer-term assignments, a wide range of opportunities are available throughout the academic year. Join our growing network of education professionals and discover a flexible, fulfilling teaching career supporting secondary schools across Norwich and Norfolk.
