Are you an experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant (LSA), SEN Teaching Assistant (TA), Behaviour Mentor, Youth Worker, Care Worker or Support Practitioner looking for a rewarding and flexible role? We are recruiting on behalf of a highly regarded specialist secondary school seeking dedicated support staff to work with young people aged 11-16 with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). This small independent specialist setting provides a highly personalised approach to education, supporting pupils with a range of additional needs, including social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) challenges. Working alongside teaching staff and therapeutic professionals, you will support students in small class groups, helping them engage with learning, develop confidence, regulate emotions and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally. You will provide classroom support, encourage positive behaviour, build trusted relationships and help pupils develop the skills needed for further education, training and employment. The school offers a warm, inclusive and supportive environment where wellbeing is a priority. Staff work collaboratively with families and external professionals to ensure every learner receives the individual support they need. The school was most recently rated Good, with particular recognition for its positive relationships, tailored curriculum and strong focus on personal development.

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be proactive  and capable working with pupils in a SEN School setting.

We are looking for a candidate who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

We welcome applications from experienced SEND LSAs, SEN Teaching Assistants and Learning Mentors, as well as candidates with transferable skills from education, youth work, care, mental health support, children’s services or similar sectors. You should hold a minimum of GCSE Maths and English at Grade 4/C or above, demonstrate excellent communication skills and have a genuine passion for supporting young people with additional needs. Availability for 1-5 days per week is available, making this an excellent opportunity for those seeking flexibility. A driving licence would be beneficial, although the school is conveniently located within walking distance of local bus links.
