4myschools

Job start date: ASAP | Pay: £94 - £97 Per DAY  | School type: Primary School

Current opening! Year 1 SEND Learning Support Assistant (Split Day) – Manningtree

At 4myschools, we are working closely with a welcoming and inclusive primary school to recruit a dedicated SEND Learning Support Assistant to support within Year 1. This nurturing setting places a strong emphasis on inclusive education, early intervention, and creating a calm, engaging environment where every child can thrive. The school promotes a child-centred ethos, making use of tailored learning approaches and specialist spaces such as sensory provision and EYFS environments to meet individual needs. This rewarding split-day role focuses on providing 1:1 support to two children with identified additional needs. These pupils present with needs that may include ASD/ADHD profiles, requiring consistent, structured support both within the classroom and in quieter, adapted spaces such as the school’s sensory room. You will deliver short, manageable bursts of learning (5–10 minute tasks), adapting activities to maintain engagement and reduce overwhelm. You will implement a range of effective strategies including Zones of Regulation, visual timetables, Now/Next/Then boards, use of fidget tools and ear defenders, and support with transitions using timers and clear warnings. The role will also include facilitating movement breaks, supporting emotional regulation, simplifying instructions, offering structured choices, and checking for understanding through early intervention. Building a positive, trusting relationship with the child will be essential to support both academic progress and emotional development.

  • Contract duration: Ongoing
  • Contract type: FULL_TIME – Hours: 08:30 – 3:30
  • Age groups: Primary School

The ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic  and capable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

This role would suit someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to stay calm under pressure, and a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs. You should be available Monday to Friday, term time only, and ideally have access to your own transport or reliable local travel arrangements. Experience using sensory strategies, behaviour regulation techniques, and working in a similar 1:1 or small-group capacity is highly desirable.
