Secondary schools across Ipswich are seeking reliable English teachers to support day‑to‑day cover within established English departments. These schools offer structured timetables, clear behaviour expectations and supportive subject teams, making them well suited to supply teachers. The role sits within Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 settings, with lessons typically planned in advance to allow teachers to focus on delivery and classroom engagement. Where cover extends, there is potential for longer‑term continuity within the department.

• Contract type: PART_TIME – Hours: 8:30 – 3:30
• Age groups: Secondary School

Who we are looking for

The ideal candidate should be proactive  and comfortable working with pupils in a Secondary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The ideal candidate will be a confident English teacher who can step into lessons at short notice and quickly establish a purposeful learning environment. They will have a clear, adaptable teaching style and be comfortable delivering English language and literature content across different year groups. Strong classroom presence and the ability to follow school policies consistently are essential. Teachers open to longer‑term placements when required will be particularly valued.

Essential requirements

Enhanced DBS on the Update Service – we can help you apply. 
Right to work in the UK. 
Relevant experience or qualifications in education or childcare (desirable). 
Dedication to safeguarding children. 
The role is primarily daily supply with the possibility of longer‑term cover depending on school needs. 
Experience teaching English at secondary level would be advantageous. 
The teacher should be confident managing behaviour and maintaining high expectations during short‑term cover.
