4myschools are recruiting on behalf of a caring and well-established primary school in the Felixstowe area seeking an experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant to join their team on a long-term supply basis from September. This role will primarily be based within the school’s Key Stage 2 Specialist Education Unit (SEU), supporting pupils with a range of complex additional needs, while retaining the flexibility to assist across other areas of the school when required. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated SEND professional who enjoys building consistent relationships with pupils and making a genuine difference to children’s educational journeys. Working alongside experienced teachers and support staff, you will provide structured learning support, assist with personalised learning programmes, implement behaviour and communication strategies, and help create a safe, engaging and nurturing environment where all pupils can thrive. You will play an important role in encouraging independence, supporting emotional wellbeing and helping pupils overcome barriers to learning. The successful candidate will work predominantly within the KS2 SEU, supporting children who require targeted interventions, adapted learning approaches and consistent adult guidance. You may also be required to support pupils within mainstream classrooms to ensure continuity of provision across the school.

• Contract type: FULL_TIME, PART_TIME – Hours: 08:30 – 3:30

About the ideal candidate

The ideal candidate should be enthusiastic  and confident working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

We are seeking an experienced SEND Learning Support Assistant who has a strong understanding of supporting children with additional educational needs, particularly within specialist or enhanced provisions. Experience working with autism, communication difficulties, SEMH needs, sensory needs or complex learning difficulties would be highly advantageous. Applicants must hold a minimum Grade 4 (C) or above in GCSE Maths and English and possess excellent interpersonal skills, patience and professionalism. The ideal candidate will be reliable, adaptable and committed to working Monday to Friday, 8:30am-3:30pm throughout the duration of the long-term assignment. Due to the school’s location and the nature of the role, access to reliable transport is desirable.
