As a Supply HLTA, you will play a vital role within primary school settings, providing high-quality classroom support and helping to ensure pupils remain engaged and progressing in their learning. A key aspect of the HLTA role is the ability to confidently lead whole-class learning in the teacher’s absence, delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of year groups while maintaining excellent classroom management. You will work closely with teaching staff to support curriculum delivery, assess pupil understanding and provide feedback that contributes to pupil progress. In addition, you may deliver targeted interventions, provide one-to-one and small group support, and help pupils overcome barriers to learning. Many schools also rely on HLTAs to support children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), helping to implement learning strategies and promote an inclusive environment where all pupils can thrive. Candidate profile

The ideal candidate should be committed  and comfortable working with pupils in a Primary School setting.

The successful applicant will be someone who can build positive relationships, adapt to different classroom environments, and support pupils with a range of learning needs.

The successful applicant will have previous experience working as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, HLTA, experienced Teaching Assistant or in a similar educational support role within a primary school setting. Applicants should be confident leading whole-class lessons, supporting learning across the primary curriculum and adapting to different school environments. Experience supporting pupils with SEND, including Autism, ADHD and other additional learning needs, would be highly advantageous. Candidates must hold a minimum of GCSE Grade 4 (C) or above in English and Maths, and a recognised HLTA qualification is desirable. Strong communication skills, excellent classroom management and the ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff are essential. Due to the nature of supply work across multiple schools, access to your own transport is desirable. Applicants should be available to work 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday, term time only, with flexibility to accept daily supply assignments as required.
